Therapeutic Daycare |
Beit Issie Shapiro provides therapeutic daycare for children with a wide range of special needs, through three frameworks:.jpg)
While the child's needs are the primary focus of the Centers, the philosophy is holistic and the child is always viewed within a family and community context. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary staff in partnership with the child's parents. With over 26 years of experience in educating and treating children with special needs, the therapeutic daycare centers have become model services and are used as a field training resource for training students and service providers wishing to enrich their skills.
In 2007, Beit Issie Shapiro's Special Education Center was honored by being selected as a demonstration school by the Department of Education.
In the school year 2007-8, eight children form the Early Intervention Center took part in a Home Community Integration Program, which aims to make the child and his family feel part of their natural community. An appropriate nursery school was located for each child, and every Friday, their parents took them there. Accompanied throughout the day by an integration aide, they spent 4 hours with regular children, participating in all the educational and social activities, and making new friends.
Highlights of our Year
We are delighted that 3 of our children who participated in last year's program, have been mainstreamed this year and are now attending a regular nursery school!
