It is estimatet that in 2016 over 2 billion people worldwide will be using smartphones. This powerful technology opens
up the potential for apps to solve real life problems at a low cost to the vision impaired end user. Turn by turn
navigation is something people expect from their smartphones.. The one critical factor to ensure this idea is sustained is
the adoption of a ‘standard’ when creating directional or mapping products. Once this system has been developed the
Wayfindr will be easily scalable across the network and other cities, and will be compatible with the journey data
already available in an open source way.
