FACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE
 As of June 2015, we have had over 3,200 downloads of our four existing Storybook Apps on both iPads and Android
tablets.
 VL2 has a collaborative relationship with 90 partner schools. We conduct research with deaf and hard of hearing
children at the schools. We also share the latest research findings regarding deaf children's language acquisition
and socioemotional development, information/training on how to use VL2 Storybook Apps, and supplemental
material such as lesson plans.
 We are beta-testing the Storybook Creator Program, and have held workshops with storybook creators.
OUTLOOK
This type of project is easily adopted or adapted by other organizations and other countries. We have a VL2 Storybook
Creator program that enables people and/or organizations to develop new Storybook Apps using our templates. The
VL2 Storybook Creator is currently undergoing beta testing and will be released to the public in the fall of 2015. This
program will be available for a low fee, between $150 to 300. Creators will have access to tutorial guides and be able to
use the existing Storybook App code. They can simply plug in their own illustrations, videos, and text. This allows for the
development of new stories in various languages. By providing the code, we are ensuring that the format of the new
stories still adheres to our research-based design. The VL2 Storybook Creator is cost-effective for interested people
because they can use our codes without creating a new platform or new app platform. In addition, the VL2 Storybook
Creator could become a valuable classroom tool, giving children the chance to create their own stories in both ASL and
English, and then (with adult assistance), turn them into a Storybook Apps.
