MISSION

The association "Cienca sin Barreras" was founded in 2014 and its aim is to promote science, among people with

functional diversities and those who do not have wide access to scientific knowledge, and scientific activities covering

various disciplines. The project has as its motto "science for everybody".

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED

The association offers various and numerous activities and proposes an offer based on divulgation of scientific contents,

intended for collectives that otherwise would find difficulties to access them. The accessibility includes various issues

such as direct adaption to sensory needs and levels of abstraction for each particular individual as well as flexibility in

the schedule and a place to be performed.

ACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE

Number of beneficiaries (total number): 59 students with Down's syndrome, 4 persons with visual impairments, 24

persons that are hearing and visually impaired 20 persons that are deaf

Number of members involved in the activities (2015): 16 researchers/lecturers, 12 university students, 6 functional

diversity specialists

Number of journalists covering activities (2015): 2

UTLOOK

All practices can be easily adopted by other organizations in any other country. All activities are based in the principles

of Universal Design and can be applied to everyone. The perspective of growth of the project is optimistic, since it is

gathering more Spanish members within all scientific disciplines that prior used to being associated were working by

themselves. The costs of the implementation are focused in the acquisition of specific material, like for example a 3D
