VERALL GOAL

/

MISSION

The "Three Olives" is an inclusive education school for students with hearing disabilities, a place where deaf and hearing

are given a standardized education, equality, respect and collaborative environment. Their goal is not only to allow deaf

students to reach academic standards in line with their intellectual capacity and develop social skills in an ordinary social

system (ie , mostly listener) ; It is also a project to change the perception of society towards disability , and particularly

in our case , the hearing impairment. Every community is sensitive to the elimination of potential barriers to

communication . Teachers are trained to interact at all times with students with hearing impairment and a workshop on

the " deafness " is offered to the families of students so that listeners are informed and know also communicate with

fellow deaf children. Students with hearing disabilities receive within their school hours; speech therapy sessions that

everyone needs to develop their communication skills.

T

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED

With the support of the Dales la Palabra Foundation (Give them the Word), in the 2001/2 school year, a kindergarten,

primary and higher education centers were opened. It could count from the beginning with the support of the

government, the Ministry of Education of the Community of Madrid, and Three Olives beginning as an integration

school for children with hearing impairment. In 2009-2010 started high school programs in Social Sciences; Vocational

Training and with two modes: Technician Microcomputer Systems and Networks and Pharmacy and Pharmacy

Technician. Physical removal of architectural barriers: the construction of the school was designed from the beginning

according to the special needs of students with hearing impairment: integrated visual alarm systems, typical

audiometric cabin facilities, tutoring and speech therapy in each of the levels and, above all, the principle of caring for

the signal to noise ratio as a key to hear speech intelligible form. The building has soundproofing. Removing

communication barriers: all teachers have received and continue to receive practical training in communication

techniques. Consulting classrooms. Technical adaptations. Programs for families of alumni / ae hearing impaired and

families of students / listeners as regards the inclusion of students with hearing impairment.
