O

VERALL GOAL

/

MISSION

The main goal of the eLeSI project is to offer four distance-training modules that facilitate the acquisition of knowledge

regarding the origin and possible consequences of disabilities. It shall help people to learn about the factors, which may

support, or conversely impede the adoption of positive person centred approaches in order to provide individual

support. The training also aims at changing people’s perception of those who have individual differences and disabilities

and wishes to contribute to the social inclusion of people with disabilities. It also entails to be a contribution to the

implementation of the UN-Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Therefore, the training is freely

available and has a transnational focus. It is based on the main principles of the UN-Convention on the Rights of Persons

with Disabilities.

T

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED

The distance-learning project eLeSI (e-learning for Social Inclusion) was born from the observation of a lack of training

for many practitioners and support staff in many countries, especially in poor countries, where there often exists a lack

of financial resources to provide a high-quality training, working with children and adults with learning disabilities,

autism spectrum disorders and/or mental health disorders. Therefore this training course, provided through e learning,

shall give everyone interested the opportunity to have cost-free access to a high quality training. That is why the project

offers a generic training module about people with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and/or mental

health problems that is designed, for example, for teachers, assistants, practitioners, trainers, but in fact, for every

person that is working and/or is in contact with these people. It also provides specialized modules, each one for specific

age groups, covering the various aspects of the inclusion and participation of individuals in areas of social life. The whole

training course is similar to a 400h course (depending on the initial level of knowledge and expertise of the learner).
