F

ACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE

1)

This tool will allow to determine the frequency, level of involvement and barriers and facilitators to participation at

home, school and in the community in children and youth with disabilities in LAMI countries and marginalised

communities

2)

According to the World Bank, 145 countries are classified as LAMI, of which 5.812 billion people reside.

3)

The size and scope of this project is extensive. Initial pilots of the tool have been effectively administered on three

different continents, evidence that this tool can be administered to children with disabilities in a variety of settings,

cultural environments and countries.

O

UTLOOK

Technological advances have allowed to develop an application software version of the tool; the increasing use,

affordability and accessibility to technology and the internet in LAMI countries will assist in the ease of adoption by

countries worldwide. There are very limited costs associated with the use of the app - internet would be required to

download the software and the online training tool, but the app itself will be free. The app has been designed so that

'expert training' is not required for its use, but rather an eLearning tutorial. This tool will give health workers a medium

to effectively engage children within their own health care, and encourage families, co-workers and the broader

community to consider changing aspects of the environment rather than the child to facilitate participation.
