FACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE
 150 selected professional interpreters from all over Europe, 15 in Italian sign language. 500 collaborators are
foreseen by 2016.
 As part of the service in Italian sign language, it is possible to reach out to 40-50 thousand deaf Italians, with an
estimated total demand of 200 thousand annual hours of interpreting service (at this time provided with
interpreters present in several areas: health, educational, administrative, etc.)
 VEASYT Live! Is implemented only in Italy for the moment, but it is replicable and scalable across Europe and
worldwide. The technology is web-based, and therefore it is possible to access video interpreting online remotely
from any device connected to the Internet from anywhere in the world.
 The service VEASYT Live! meets the requirements of environmental sustainability as best to reduce pollution and
constant moving of interpreters. It also increases social sustainability, allowing a total self-management of
professionals and a better organization of work and personal life for people who are deaf.
OUTLOOK
This collaboration with deaf people in society has been crucial since the first stages of the development of the service,
which in the first phase only included service in Italian sign language, and then later it expanded its use to including
other spoken languages. The collaboration of Italian deaf sign language teachers and university professors has been
important in developing the project, as well as with the contribution of deaf collaborators who tested the service during
the construction of the platform.
The Italian deaf community continues to collaborate with VEASYT for operational activities such as improving the
platform and the study of more and new features to implement.
Among the main features and benefits of the service highlights the flexibility of use, even in cases of emergency or in
isolated locations.
