ACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE

1.

170 students graduating every year from SEKOMU appointed with assistive technology skills for training visually

impaired learners.

2.

168 diploma students graduating from Patandi teachers college every year appointed with assistive technology

training skills for visually impaired learners.

3.

121 students studying secondary school education at Lugalo, Kilosa and Old moshi with knowledge and skills on

computer applications.

4.

95 pupils studying primary education in standard 5, 6 and 7 at Mugeza, Makalala and Ikungi integrated schools with

elementary knowledge on computer application.

UTLOOK

The pilot project will be co-implemented by the previous assistive technology stakeholders where the Ministry of

education has policy developer, Patandi teachers college, Sebastian Kolowa Memorial Universtity (SEKOMU),

Mpwapwa, Old Moshi and kilosa secondary schools, Makalala, Ikungi and Mugeza intergreted primary schools as project

implementing agencies will be involved at all stages of the project. A sample of pupils at primary six and seven, all

students in secondary schools, all students taking special needs education in visual impairment in Patandi teachers

college and SEKOMU will be trained in assistive technology as a way of teaching and learning ICT as a curriculum subject.

After 2 years of project implementation the learnings best practice and impacts registered by this project will be

adapted by Ministry of Education, policy and curriculum developers in order for them to scale to institutions admitting

visually impaired persons in the country.

Before the project starts, preliminary mutual understanding between the implementing partners, which are schools,

colleges, and university and site partners including Tanzania League of the Blind, Sight savers, Tanzania Education

Authority and Ministry of Education will be developed.
