OVERALL GOAL /MISSION
Mission of the NGO Staze is providing and improvement of services of support to children and youth with disabilities, to
their families in fields of education, social and health protection, as well as their participation in all fields of
Montenegrin society.
Children with disabilities in Montenegro who are educated in regular system of education confront with classes with
high number of children (around 30). It is difficult for teachers to dedicate enough time for each pupil. Other problems
are architectural inaccessibility of schools, lack of adjusted school books, and insufficiently educated teachers for work
with children with disabilities. Very important component of support pupils who have different disabilities and who
attend regular schools are: “teaching-assistants”. Teaching-assistants provide assistance in overcoming educational
programs, designing behavior, development of skills of independence, interaction with other people, initiation and
support of communication set up in “Individual educational development”-plan. Also there are no special teachers in
schools who would work individually with children, so it is necessary to develop additional support in order to
adequately respond to the demands of the educational process. This project supports education of children with
disabilities in regular schools, and families of these children as well.
THE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
Children aged 4 until 18 years provide service of additional professional support in extended stay which is being
organized in premises of NGO Staze every working day in period of four hours. After school and with the assistance of
teaching-assistants, these children work with speech therapist, psychologist, special educator and a social worker. Pupils
are brought to extended stay by assistants who help them and provide support during their stay in schools. All services
are project based and parents do not have to participate financially.
