MISSION
The Technology Consulting Center aims to increase the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities through
the use of technology. The four main goals are to:
1.
Improve inclusion and enhance quality of life and recreation through touch screen device technology
2.
Provide state-of-the-art therapeutic and educational technology solutions for children and adults with disabilities
3.
Be a source of knowledge and training to professionals, teachers, therapists and parents worldwide
4.
Increase awareness of the need for accessible apps and provide app-developers with the necessary tools

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
The organisation has developed a very successful implementation model for using iPads/tablets in special education and
therapeutic frameworks for children with both motor and cognitive disabilities. It also provides consultation and training
to families, finding the optimal fit between technology and the user's needs, interests, abilities and goals of his/her
treatment or learning. Finally, based on our extensive experience using apps, we provide guidance and consultation to
app developers as to how to create apps that are truly accessible, thus expanding their potential market.
The work model is based on field-proven methods and knowledge that have been developed from the bottom-up,
based on the daily work of the therapeutic and educational staff and the needs in our different frameworks.

ACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE
Currently, over 100 children with disabilities at Beit Issie Shapiro are benefiting from the use of iPads in educational,
recreational and therapeutic settings
We have trained over 400 careers, professionals and parents of children with disabilities in how to effectively use
technology as a tool for children with disabilities. We expect that number to more than double over the next year
Over 2,000 members of the hi-tech community, focusing on app-developers, have been exposed to our "assistive
approach" increasing their ability to develop accessible apps.
