O

VERALL GOAL

/

MISSION

People with learning difficulties give their IT knowledge to senior citizens living in the district. The concept has been

developed by people with learning difficulties themselves and is implemented in the PIKSL laboratories in Düsseldorf.

The courses are subject to charges in order to pay the teaching staff. At the beginning of the eight-week courses

(morning and afternoon sessions) for eight participants, the course content is discussed. Each teacher has two students.

At the beginning, the content of previous session is discussed and then new tasks are introduced. Assistants of the PIKSL

laboratory prepare the training sessions each day. The IT courses are action orientated with daily life examples. This

requires a sensitive consideration of the individual learning requirements.

T

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED

The developed project is an inclusive media knowledge, were people with and without disabilities learn about ICT and

pass their acquired knowledge to third parties. PIKSL targets possibilities to participate in ICT and to remove

interdisciplinary barriers to facilitate inclusion. The ultimate aim is “digital participation”.
