UNITY AND DIVERSITY IN ACTION
Since 1996, Beit Issie Shapiro has been organizing the largest
International Conferences on Disabilities – under the auspices of
the Trump Institute for
Continuing Education
in Developmental
Disabilities – in
Israel. In 2015, 1,200
academic, medical
and community
professionals,
researchers, policy makers, service providers, people with
disabilities, and family members gathered in Tel Aviv for the 6th
conference to share and learn from the latest state-of-the-art
knowledge, research and practice in the field of disabilities.
“Beit Issie Shapiro sent a message to the world that the rights of
people with disabilities are vital to making the world a better
place for all of us."
Prof. Michael Stein, Executive Director,
Harvard Law School Project on Disability, USA
"The fact that families and service-beneficiaries had a strong
impact on conference activities meant that participation and
engagement was authentic…"
Luigi Croce, Head of Faculty
of Education and Psychology's Graduate Program, Catholic
University, Italy
“The conference provided a rare opportunity to catch up with
developments affecting persons with disabilities in Israel and be
exposed to a panorama of developments around the world.”
Diane Richler, Inclusion International
“Beit Issie Shapiro...[is] crucially
important in letting the world know
that disabilities can be improved
with loving care and technology, and
the resulting innovations will help
everybody”
